Hi.
My current build is old as hell, FX 6300 @3.6GHz + 2x4Gb RAM, almost a year ago I managed to snatch a pretty cheap RX570 8Gb (an absolute upgrade from the integrated graphics from the mobo). I also have a CX650M, so I believe my power supplying needs are more than covered for an upgrade.
Ever since, I never really pushed the build that far and pretty much anything I threw at it worked (light stuff like LoL, Warframe, Kenshi, DoS2, etc), however, due to the quarantine and whatnot I've had a lot more of free time and although it can hold it's ground when gaming @720p, it's age is showing. I was surprised at the 25+fps on AC: Odyssey and 50+ on The Witcher 3, but the CPU was at ~100% all the time.
Besides gaming I do some CAD and FEA simulations, so I was thinking on upgrading the CPU, I know I'll have to change the mobo and the RAM too. Also, I'm a university student and as such money is tight, I can probably save $200 USD every two months or so, there's no real hurry in doing the upgrades but I figured it was a good time to get a good lead on what to do. I was hoping to game @1080p, or at least @720p with 60+ fps and speed up the times of the simulations.
After some quick Google-fu, the Ryzen 5 3600 seemed like the most common suggestion, however that would mean 2 months just for the CPU. Is there a cheaper similar option? What would be the best upgrading path?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the wall of text.
