CPU for Streaming

Basically above I CANNOT decide between 3 different choices. I want to stream video games and video editing. I wanna do this as a hobby and fun, I play tons of video games... might as well try and do something more with my time.

Real world scenario while streaming.
- 3+ internet tabs
-skype
-different games being played at different times ( bf4, cod, league, eso) just few examples.
-editing videos for uploading to youtube

I want to keep good frames while playing because I want to give my audience the best stream quality. I would say I want to stream at 1080P but most likely 720P @ 60 fps.

I cant decide between AMD or Intel haswell

-asus maximus vi hero + i5-4670k OR i7-4770k

-Cross hair V formula-z + amd fx-8350

Id prefer to go with haswell? but will i5 make me struggle to keep high frame rates? will i7 help with that? i heard AMD 8 core are way better for streaming since they are multi threaded and better for doing more then one thing at a time ( streaming twitch + 2 tabs of twitch open at 1 time + playing some type of game)

With heavy multitasking like this 4770k>8350>4670k

The 4770k would be best, but if you get the 8320, you can overclock it as it's the same chip as the 8350, just with a factory underclock. That will save you a good bit of money, and it seems like it would suit your needs nicely. It works very well for streaming and multitasking, and will save you a lot of money compared to a 4770k.

Thanks for your answer. It sucks there isn't any benchmarks of real world streaming i might go with 8320 + crosshair cause I still need to buy a SSD. I hate this haha I still have a week to decide if i'm getting the fx or 2 weeks for intel :/ ill see with the more replies I get. Most people say 8 core amd though so most likely heading towards that.

also do you recommend the crosshair formula? I love the red black and rog theme. Is there any other motherboard it can compete with?

Well all the processors will be capable at playing at a decent framerate at 60fps@1080p.

Streaming software aren't heavily multi-threaded and are rather depended on per-thread SIMD performance, which piledriver lacks off(dont worry piledriver is still more than capable to stream).

The scenarios you have set up are having little to impact on streaming, as browser will idle, skype takes little to no resources, and would generally be stacked on 1 core.

thanks for the technical reply of WHY something is not as good as the other. The only problem iv had is while testing my 3570k @ stock speeds me getting 50-80 fps randomly while streaming with open broadcast software which isn't as needy as xsplit at all. I cant find a motherboard i like aesthetically and performance anymore for 1155 socket thats why im switching over to haswell.

if xsplit cannot use more then the typical amount of cores ( not utilize multithreading) and probably wont use hyperthreading ( i7) i think my best bet would be to go with i5 4670k + hero board. If i do go with an i5 i will most likely by the best dual fan closed loop cpu cooler to overclock the hell out of the i5.

the thing is it is utilizing multi-threading, but that doesn't mean it ultize all the cores.
to be utilizing multi-threading you just in theory just need to run 2 processes.

I cannot see how encoding an image and sound can be threaded to further cores.

alright it kind of sucks I dont know all of this. I feel noobish when it comes to technicalities of what a cpu can do but im also guessing you are going to say the same as the person above which is 4770K>8320>4670k? whats your opinion with the knowledge you have? Theres so many people when i google this that dont know anything and just throw out intel>amd and give no feedback as of why they think that. Since you have feedback on what you say what do you think would be best to go with? Im guessing 4770k just because intel wins the cpu wars but will i see a huge difference with 8320/ 4670k? or will it be like only minor 5 fps difference?

i get what you mean with overclocking the 8320 but i can also overclock the 4670k. lets use a hypothetical and say I overclock both @ 4.5ghz stable will the overclocked 8320 still outperform the 4670k? Did you take this into consideration already with your answer? or are you talking about 4670k @ stock while overclocking 8320?


sorry for all the questions but i will be spending a lot of time and money on this and want the best of what i can do if i can avoid buying the 4770k ( 300 bucks is tons for cpu :/)

oh alright. Hmm the decisions and yes i will be getting an aftermarket cooler i currently have the hyper 212 but I want a closed loop water cooler for better cooling. I was probably getting the nzxt x40 ive read up on much reviews and it gives really good performance for money just like amd .

thanks for your time though 8320 does feel like my best bet. especially if im going to grab i still want an ssd and closed loop cooler... h440 will be icing on top but in due time...

Hopefully i find a buyer for my i5 3570k+z77-ds3h mobo... ill probably throw in a free 212 if you buy the bundle so people will buy it the package instead of just the cpu.
