Hello all. I've a ghetto rig that i decided to use as a learning station for windows server 2012 r2. It consists of

  • Intel core 2 duo [e8600]
    MSI p45 mobo [bios v1.1]
    Geforce 8600GTS gpu
    4gb ram

I did get my windows server version from Microsoft page and i did mount that iso image on my usb drive, BUT, everytime i get past the initial drive selection page (after furiously smashing f11) it gives me an error error 0x000005D (cpu not compatible). I did change the Execute Bit Support(or XD in other words) in bios to Enabled, but that does not change anything. So i have no idea what to do next. Any tips or advice from you guys?

P.S. I know that WS2012 requires x64 cpu. Core 2 duo is x64.

Hmmm, i'll try to update bios first and then see if it works. If not i guess i should try WS2012 (not r2) ;/

Update: Updated BIOS to latest version (1.C) and it all works now. I guess they did not have some options back at 2008 when they released this mobo

Thanks
