ive been having problems with my new motherboard for a while. i think its the agp slot or something. whenever i try a new component or something i need a 3d application to see if the problems still going on. basically when im running a game or 3d application it will either lock up the system or the screen will go black and the speakers will beep

ive been just running 3d marks and manually relooping it since i only have the free version and auto loop is disabled. is there a better program out there for this? a lot of times spent just seeing if the problems been fixed or not

Tell us about your system: components and OS.
What have you done so far to correct the prob?
Have you updated all the drivers? BIOS?
Have you tested the memory with memtest86

Have you read the FAQ? Looked for previous posts on this topic?

ive made a few threads about it back when i started trying to figure out what the problem is. heres the latest set. the odd thing is sometimes it wont have a problem for like an hour then it will crap out.. i think it happens in the most system intensive ares of the game, ect

http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=569266#569266

quick summary though when i got my new mb/processor things seemed to be running fine, but i was geting terrible framerates in games so i checked the bios and it had primary display adapter set to pci.. so i changed that to AGP and installed the MB drivers and started having problems. ive done several reformats and fresh installs, tried a different powersource, gfx card, ect. auto dected memory timing instead of manually setting it. updated bios and drivers all to the latest. did memtest on the memory and it was fine. ive also ruled out heat since the gfx card doesn't go above about 60 degrees, and i got plenty of fans in the case

im kinda outa ideas the most recent thing i did was put the primary display back to pci and updated the sound drivers to most recent that was the only driver i hadnt updated completly yet.. though i dont see how a bad sound driver/card would cause that

OS is win 2kpro, motherboard is Msi K8n Neo 2 platinum, cpu is a AMD64 4000+ soundcard is a audigy 2z, ram is kingston khx3200AK2/1g, a gig of ddr 400 ram

thats the sum of it i can give a full system report to anyone who wants it from EVEREST if they want. but ive asked before here and didnt really get to far

anyway anyone know a decent stress test? just playing the game and running 3dmarkx in manual loops takes a while

Is it possible to loop aquamark?

I believe 3d mark can be looped by putting (even the free version) into demo mode.

In the other thread, did someone tell anything about voltage logging?

You can loop SiSoft Sandra's burn in wizard, it's free.

Twee: Nothing about voltage logging in the other thread. Mainly discussed updating drivers and GART driver issues. He has replaced the PSU, but he didn't say what he replaced it with...

Ken: What is your current PSU? Is the PSU ATX12V v2.0(two 12V rails)? Have you logged voltages with your current PSU and checked for large voltage drops around the time it crashes?

hrm i used an antec trupower 430.. it says its 12v but dunno if its the 2.0, probably not. i dont know anything about this voltage logging, how would one go about doing so?

Use the prog that came with your mainboard or mbm5 to log the voltages. If something happens you might be able to notice a drop in voltages in the log. I doubt this is happening with an Antec PSU however.
