Hello there, looking for a little help.

I was looking for a new motherboard and my friend gave me his Asus prime B360-m board he bought but ever used

I have a gt1660ti 6gb gpu, 32gb ram and 500w psu which will all slot into the newer board but having checked the manufacture site, the cpu I have, an i5-7500, isn’t listed as supported, some other sites show it is, but I’ve decided to upgrade so after some advice about which cpu to look at with this configuration?

Thank you in advance

i7-9700KF isn't much more for 8 cores.

Also the 8700K which is 6 cores 12 threads like more recent i5.

But honestly, you can easily just do this:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F 2.5 GHz 6-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B660M Pro RS Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $244.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Not really an option, I’m based in china, parts here are in plenty of supply, but ordering online from places like eBay and Amazon take too long for delivery, mainly looking for help with which cpu is a good option for the motherboard I have and then I’ll just hit up one of the computer cities and find Said cpu

8700, 9700 or 9900 non K SKU are the highest performing CPUs which will work in that board (8700 will be faster than 9700 in some heavily multithreaded workloads, but that's it). You would need decent cooling for any of those, and I'd be a little concerned with the VRM temps as it doesn't seem well cooled and isn't very extensive which means higher temperatures.

Something like the 9500/9600 might be a little better on the VRMs.
