That depends very much on the game. It can make a huge difference in a lot of games. 4 threads just isn't enough for every game now if absolute maximum performance is a priority.

With Assssin's Creed Origins, the game simply requires a lot of hardware. You will need both an i7 and a GTX 1070 to stay above 60fps on high-very high all the time.

I just played AC Odyssey and yes it uses up to 100% of my i7-7700K at times and at 1440p very high settings I barely stay above 60fps with my 1080 Ti (60-80fps). So, I would say either lowering settings to maintain desired frame rate or upgrading both CPU and GPU is required.

Wow, not a chance I'm going to buy a game that lazily optimized. That's absurd. Ubisoft didn't even try.

That sucks. Hardware Unboxed does have a good video on setting optimization for it, though, if you want to get some extra frames without potato-fying it.

Well, the thing about it and that I wanted to mention is, I had no issue with getting 50ish fps. The game runs smoothly at that framerate. I'm sure G-Sync helps, which I have. FreeSync should help also if you have AMD. But, 35fps might be a different story though I do remember playing AC Unity at 35fps on Ultra with my old GTX 970 and it was definitely playable, and that was when I had a regular monitor.

I had also just recently watched this video from Hardware Unboxed
