Just installed my new i7 9700 and retired my i3 9100F, I ran some cinebench R23 tests and for Multi core it got a 6800 and for single core it got a 1191. According to cpu monkey it should be getting around 8540 and 1181. So it's only performing about 80% good as it should be when it comes to Multicore testing, yet on par when it comes to single core testing. Does anyone know why its underperforming? Temperatures max out around 60C on all 8 cores. I purchased the CPU from amazon.ca

Specs:
CPU: i7 9700 3.0Ghz
CPU cooler: hyper 212 evo
MOBO: ASUS PRIME b360M-A
RAM: 16GB 2666MHz Gskill ram 4x4
GPU: Gigabyte 1650 Super
PSU: Corsair TX750M

Solution
underperforming
If the turbo power limits are set to their default values, the i7-9700 will power limit throttle when running a Cinebench stress test. Go into the BIOS and see if it gives you access to the long and short (PL1 and PL2) turbo power limits. You need to increase these significantly if you are interested in maximum performance.

If you cannot find these settings in the BIOS, download ThrottleStop and open the TPL window.

Set the two turbo power limits as high as they can go and you will not have to worry about power limit throttling. I set both of them to the maximum value, 4095.

Hi coohjay! I was wondering if you’ve managed to get better performance. I got the same board and was going to upgrade from i3 9100f to i7 9700f as well. Just wanted to know how it’s performing before buying it, thanks!
