So...my computer has been crashing randomly in the past couple of months or so. Started when playing Civ V, would randomly crash after about an hour of play, but sometimes wouldn't crash...but sometimes would after a couple minutes...completely random. The computer Freezes to an irrecoverable state and one of my monitors goes black after CPU hits 100%...but not always.
System Specs:
CPU: i7 4770k 3.5 GHz (OC to 4.5 GHz)
Ram: 8Gb Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz (OC to 2200 MHz)
GPU: MSI GTX 760 4Gb Twin Frozer
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3
SSD-1: Crucial M500 120Gb
SSD-2: Samsung 850 EVO 500Gb
HDD-1: Western Digital Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM
HDD-2: Western Digital Disk Drive My Passport 0748 1TB
WiFi Adapter: D-link DWA-542
If I missed any thing let me know.
Here is an exact list of the steps I have taken to solve this:
1. Disable Overclock (crash persisted)
2. Memcheck (no errors)
3. Disabled RAM Overclock (crash persisted)
4. Tried different RAM anyways (crash persisted)
5. Ran AIDA64 stress test, no crash but CPU was a little warm
6. Ran a Virus scan using Avast, Malwarbytes, and spybot 2.4
7. Dusted CPU heatsink and re-ran stress test, temperatures back to normal
8. Updated GPU and CPU drivers (crash persisted)
9. Disabled CPU stepping, crash disappeared for about two weeks until last night when I was running GUIMiner on my GPU and CPU simultaneously, CPU hit 100% and computer froze to irrecoverable state... CPU temp never got above 70C on any of the cores.
I've done all I can think of and any help is appreciated. Thanks In Advance!
