CPU load statistics don't match!

Greetings everyone,

So I monitor my CPU temps with RealTemp v3.7 and it just so happens that the program also shows CPU load (live). I was surprised when I saw that it shows ~80% load at idle, while Windows Task Manager shows 0-2%. What is going on and which one should I trust? My Temps are VERY high for idle, so maybe something's eating at my CPU? A certain process or a virus?

Take a look at this:

Laptop Specs:
Dell XPS M1710
Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 @2.16Ghz 4MB L2 Cache
2x1GB Kingston 667Mhz RAM
WD Caviar Blue 640GB HDD
NVIDIA Geforce Go 7950GTX (512MB, 256-bit)

P.S. The frequency of the CPU is lower in the screenshot, because I was running Prime95 prior to this, and the bastard underclocked itself to cope with the heat. The screenshot was taken a few minutes after Prime95 stopped testing.

CPU usage is simply measured as the fraction of a time interval that the CPU is scheduled to perform work that is not the system idle process. Task Manager reports this very well. RealTemp is... doing something else.

It does vary, but only by a few degrees...
