Question CPU mobo compatability

I have a ASRock AB350M motherboard here is the linkhttp://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350M/index.asp
I want to put a Ryzen 7 2700X inside. I know it is compatible because they both are AM4 but I don't know if I would have to update the Motherboard BIOS first. Could someone help me out?

2700x support from bios version P4.50. Boot to bios and check your version, if below, will have to update. Do you have a working cpu installed already to apply the update?

You say you have? Well how long have you had it and what is the current bios revision?

Here is an easy way to find that.

In your search bar type CMD.

At the prompt type.

wmic bios

You can also read the version and update via the Asrock app shop since most of the major updates are windows installable.

ok so my bios version is P3.00 so i need to update it to atleast P4.50

I would suggest updating to BIOS 5.0, there are a few fixes and memory compatibility improvements that are nice to have. You will need to patch a few times for that.

You will need to download them to a USB thumb drive and do the updating from within the BIOS itself. Not all of these will do the Windows update method.

Just checking. Think bios can be flashed from 3.20 straight to v5.00, long as bios is flashed to 3.20 first and the vga driver you linked. Instructions doesn't indicate needing to update 4.5, 4.7 prior to 5.

It's less risky when you flash in steps, it's a precaution you learn to take after doing them for many years.

There is only one VGA driver listed and the link is DOA because it comes up as a direct download which is blocked here. You definitely have to install it though or you will brick your BIOS and have to go through the recovery process.

Yeah, i agree the vga driver is req, says it in the instructions. Thought to let you know about the link if you wanted to change it.
