Hello. I bought a new laptop and noticed that during a game, my cpu speed is 2.5kmhz and not going for the max speed which is 3.3kmhz .
I set the power settings to high performance and still no max speed. i also tried to check out the bios settings but turns out i dont have access for it.
Laptop Lenovo ideapad 510-15IKB. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz, 2901 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

any help will be appreciated best regards!

I pretty much monitor everything with HWinfo combined with RTSS. the speed is as i mentioned during the game. temps are absolutely fine not exceeding 62 degrees.

absolutely not TDP. Temps of both cpu and gpu not exceeding 62 degrees. the clocks are not going to max . its like some profiles for the cpu. the cpu is choosing the one 3/4 as an examply , like 80% of the max speed and i dislike that. i want the full speed which is almost 3.6kmhz

Both cores won't go to the full speed simultaneously. That's how Turbo Boost has always worked. That full Turbo Boost speed is for one thread that needs max performance. Both cores loaded up will be a lower pre-determined clock speed that depends on the CPU.

For instance, my i7-2670QM has a max turbo boost of 3.1 and factory clock speed of 2.2, but load all 4 cores up, and it's ~2.5 turbo boost.

For his cpu, all turbo speeds are 3.5ghz. Most turbo are higher for one core but you need to pay attention to the exact cpu model and not talk about others. Although I'm wondering why 2.5kmhz and 3.3kmhz was said.

I'm still suggesting cpuz. You can't rely on a single 3rd party software. Looking at notebookcheck's review, they are getting the full speed out of it although dropping to 2.9ghz from tdp. Did you check in the advanced options of the power plan? Any lenovo software that could affect it? Sometimes oems put their own power options. Anything in bios changed?

Thank you my friends for your concern. its worthy to say that im monitoring during in game dota 2 my cpu clocks. i noticed that in the main menu of the game , that means no graphical load on the gpu yet , the clocks of core is 3.5 mhz which is the fastest. Then when i enter the game , thats means the gpu is now loaded , the clocks are 3.5kmhz for like 30 seconds, then they drop to almost 2.6 kmhz , please keep in mind that the temps are absolutely normal . 60 61 62 63 degrees thats it. no tdp no heat problems ofcourse. Is that some technology might be since the gpu is loaded well so no need for the boost of the cpu ? or something wrong and i have to install intel XTU ?

Hwinfo. please note that the cpu clocks dropp immediately regardless of the temperature. It might be some power management issue. i would love to check my bios but i cant access it . its weird. im using lenovo ideapad 510-15ikb
