Question CPU over voltage issue

Hello there, I'll start off with the obligatory "I'm not really an expert and don't know what I'm doing" lol. A couple days ago I booted up my pc to find a CPU over voltage error, and have since been trouble shooting and trying fixes. I've reseated pretty much everything on the motherboard a couple times, and I even replaced the CMOS battery and bought a new PSU after searching online for possible fixes. None of it has worked. I'm starting to believe it may be my motherboard, having seen that possibly be the issue on a few threads, in addition to my GPU not being properly recognized. I'm going to try rewiring everything with the new PSU again after a lunch break, and ensuring all the connections are properly connected. Would replacing my mobo be my best option at this point?

If it helps at all, here are my specs:
Mobo: TUF Z390 Pro
CPU: Intel i7 8700k
PSU: EVGA 750W G6 (old one was the same but G3)
GPU: RTX 2080
16GB RAM

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Considering that both PSU's are full modular, did you interchange cables with the PSU's, if so, you're advised to work with cables that came with the PSU itself. Sleeved cable extensions in your build?

Turning your attention towards the motherboard, what BISO version are you currently on? You also forgot to mention the OS you're working with. If you're on Windows 10, include the version(not edition) of the OS. How are you cooling that processor?

Hi, thanks for the response! I've thankfully since gotten the system working after replacing the mobo. I was/still am using the old cables from the old PSU, and I do have sleeved cable extensions. I'm not sure what version of the bios I was using on the old mobo (frankly didn't look at the bios for the new one either haha), and I'm using W10 21H1, and water cooling the CPU. While I've solved the issue, I definitely wouldn't mind any advice on how to prevent something like this from happening in the future :D
