I know there are a million of these threads but i havent come across any actual solutions.

SPECS
i5 6600k currently at 4.45ghz
Idol cpu temp around 20c load @ 50c
Msi z170 gaming
Msi r9 390
Cosair vengence ddr4 8gb
Antec 620w
Ocz 250gb ssd
Seidon 120v watercooler

So i find my system to run fine even under 100% load. Always keep my eye on temperatures with realtempGT
But games like BF4 and dota 2 seem to be crashing. I dont really want to drop my overclock because i want to get everything out of it, whats the point of overclocking if you can't actually do anything with it?? There must be a way to make the OC work with every game

If programs are crashing, you don't have a stable overclock. It's that simple. It's possible you've hit the ceiling for the maximum frequency or just a frequency your CPU doesn't like. If you've tried multiple voltages there's only one option left, change the frequency. You can try Bclk but that increases other components as well (SATA is one). Bclk is a little more tedious.

I honestly don't know because I don't have a skylake CPU but I have seen reviewers hit 4.6-4.7GHz with around 1.30-1.35v. Also I read that the CPU and cache with skylake is controlled separately with the BCLK which means you can play with that too without screwing up the PCIe and RAM clocks.

Well im at 46 multiplier and 99.5 clock @ 4.577ghz
@ 1.315V is that voltage likely not enough? Sorry im new to this. Could it be something to do with my ram causing crashes? Btw the 99.5 base is the lowest it will go does that sound right?

I don't think 1.4 is a healthy voltage for that cpu. Smaller lithography will be affected by higher voltage more then previous generation. Considering 4690k and such had max 24/7 voltage 1.3 V I wouldn't go higher then that on skylake. These cpus are not gonna overclock as well as previous generations. Also why would u wanna oc latest and greatest ? Does it performs slow ? Lagging ? No point

Like i said i just want the most out of it... if that was the case i would have just bought a non k processor and saved some cash. I havent overclocked since my amd 6000+ in like 2006 2007 haha. Never had issues with that... maybe ill just go for a lower overclock and not get greedy... 4.1 or something see how that goes
