Question CPU overheating badly…

Hello guys. I recently built a new pc but the cpu overheats… BADLY.

CPU: I9-14900KF
GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 64GB DDR5-6000 (2x32GB)
Case: Hyte Y70 Touch Infinite

CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Alpine 23

CPU idles at about 85 degrees and shuts the system completely off if i so much as open a game.
I can scroll chrome but it’s so laggy. About 90 degrees Celsius when just in chrome

You have the wrong cooler for the job. You should've been looking at a very beefy air cooler with a case that has very good airflow or a 360mm AIO with a thick radiator.

The i9-14900KF has a base TDP (PL1) of 125W and a maximum turbo TDP (PL2) of 253W.

Your tiny little Arctic Cooling Alpine 23 is probably OK up to around 50W, so it's not surprising the i9-14900KF is overheating.

Recently I upgraded my pc but it went all wrong. As you can see in a different thread made by me, my i9-14900kf was using the completely wrong cooler. I also broke the GPU by inserting it the wrong way. Everything went wrong here so I’m rebuilding a new system.

The i9-14900k is still functional. I can use this

I need a new case, GPU, cooler, and ram. Everything else i can get from the old build.

You can't just buy any cheap little cooler and think it's gonna work. The 14900k is one of the most difficult CPU to cool down because of its high TDP. Your case supports 360mm radiator so I would go with that if I was you. Something like this.

Good luck with the RMA. You might find physical damage caused by the user is not covered by the warranty.

If you drive a brand new car off the forecourt and crash into a fire hydrant, do you think the dealer will give you another car under warranty?

If your CPU draws 400-500 W during gaming you have a serious problem. Maybe you got confused with the total system power draw? The 14900k (alone) can consume close to 200 W while gaming, which is very high for gaming workloads. In comparison my 9800X3D doesn't even reach 100 W while gaming, and I still use a high-end 360 mm AIO to cool it down.

9800x3d doesn't need an 360mm AIO to cool it down, I use deepcool AN600 in an ITX case to cool it. Even when being stressed with R23+Furmark(the GPU is 9070), it doesn't exceed 94 degree.

I've never said it "needs" it, I just wanted to show that cooling is important and you can't just put any cooler on your CPU and think it will be fine, especially if it's a 14900k.

And by the way, the 9800X3D throttles down at 95 to prevent it to get warmer. It's why yours doesn't exceed 94, and it can happen in real world situations, like during shader compilation. It's why I prefer a beefe cooler. Better too much than not enough. Moreover, with a 360 mm the radiator fans don't need to spin very much to keep the liquid cold, so it's great for the noise level.

The total system draw is about 1100 watts when gaming
