Question CPU overheating on startup, shuts off

I was using my pc like usual the night before, shut it off via the Windows start menu like I always do, and turned it on the next morning before it turned off by itself (to protect itself, I'm assuming). BIOS reads the cpu is reaching 100C just from booting up in 20-30 seconds.

I haven't updated or downloaded any new software. Windows power savings is set to balanced with 5%min/100%max. All the fans work, the aio pump works, all other temp readings in the BIOS are normal. I don't overclock, and haven't changed any BIOS settings since it was built nearly 2 years ago (everything else is at 'auto' or default).
I've reseated the gpu, ram, cpu and aio pump with grizzly thermal kryonaut.

I'm at a loss as to why it's doing this, anyone have a clue?

Intel 12700KF
NZXT Kraken x53
Z690 Aorus Elite AX
G.Skill Trident Z 32GB ddr4-3600 cl16 (2 16gb sticks)
Samsung 970 evo+ 500GB SSD (holds OS)
Samsung 970 evo+ 2TB SSD (holds games)
MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio
Corsair 1000w 80+ Gold ATX
Hyte Y60 case
Windows 10

Personally, I would not use another AIO and would recommend a quality air cooler. What is your replacement budget?

For example: https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15
nothing wrong with AIO's

personally id go a 280mm min on a 12700k ..

Arctic freezer ii is still in my opinion the best of the best when it comes to price and performance ..
Ive used arctic for a few years now the 280mm 360mm and 420mm have all worked flawless !!

D15 is great NH-U12a is a great option just as good in most cases as the D15 and smaller but both are expensive
Thermalright phantom spirit 120 evo is a very very good cheap ( much cheaper then noctua ) air cooler got mine for half the price of my NH-U12a ( ali express use pay pal) around 130 aud and works just as good ..

A case designed for AIOs still requires airflow and other fans. While there is nothing wrong with using AIOs, compared to air coolers, they are more complex and prone to failure. Air coolers can be very effective, definitely better in some scenarios than AIOs.

in the hyte y60 the OP is using either AIO or AIR will work fine just use the side fans to intake .. drop decent air cooler on the 12700 and rear exhaust fan and your good..

Like wise a arctic freezer ii or any decent 280mm side mounted will do the trick the hyte y60 is quite a bigger sized mid tower so plenty of room for either ..

100% agree you cant fail air coolers they are bullet proof in the scheme of things but a decent AIO mounted correctly will give years of service !!

my current pc is using the Lian li o11 vision

there is mesh on the back ( that im going to use as more exhaust) everything else is working as exhaust gpu cool cpu cool ..
360mm arctic is using push pull and the 2 140s

Alright then, I'll look at getting a new AIO and see what happens.
You could just get an inexpensive dual tower cooler (if Thermalright has good availability in your area they're the one to choose with the Peerless Assassin/Phantom Spirit) and if that resolves the problem RMA your AIO since it should have a 6 year warranty. Then you have a good dual tower cooler that can be used in most anything ATX/MATX without having to worry about orientation/pump failure.
