[SOLVED] CPU overheating problem ?

Hi guys,

No matter what I do with my PC, I can't solve the problem of CPU overheating, which reaches temperatures of 85-95°C. I installed a game, and my CPU temperature hit 95°C during the installation and stayed that way throughout the process. I thought it would improve once the installation was finished and I could play the game normally, but that never happened. When I finished the installation and started playing the game (The Last of Us Part 1), the temperature stayed constantly at 95°C, and my fans were running so fast I thought my PC might take off.

My CPU temperature when I'm not playing games is around 40°C. When I play DAYZ or SnowRunner, my CPU temperature is around 60-70°C. Sometimes the CPU temperature suddenly jumps to 80°C, but the fans lower it within two seconds. Occasionally, when I open the Mozilla browser, the temperature jumps to 80°C all of a sudden.

I've checked all the pins for the fans and the pump, and they are all connected properly. My CPU cooler is mounted on top of my PC case. In the front, I have two 140mm fans, and there's one fan on the back of the case. I've also changed the thermal paste twice, so I don't think that's the issue.

What else can I do to deal with this? It's really frustrating, and I'm getting tired of it.

Sig space specs can and will change over time. When that happens the thread with suggestions can and will be redered moot to the end user in the same boat as you, it's why we ask users to include their specs in the thread's body.

What is the make and model of your case? Number of fans in said case and their orientation? How is the watercooling radiator, in your build, mounted in the case?

BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time?

My pc case is Cooler Master Masterbox MB540. Have Liquid cooling COOLERMASTER MLW-D36M-A18PZ-R1 mounted on top of the case with 3 fans. In front of the case are 2 fans of 140cm per fan (was thinking to change for 3 120 cm fans). On the back of the case, i have one fan.

7900x tends to run hot with Tjmax at 95c and needs very good cooling. As for that AIO, make sure that pump runs full speed all the time if it's properly mounted that is.
Best way to control heat is to control CPU voltage as MB manufacturers tend to allow too high voltage at auto settings,
First step is to make sure you have latest BIOS version which may fix overvoltage.
Voltage you can lower by using "Curve optimizer" in BIOS which dynamically controls peak voltage. There are few good guides on Youtube.

If BIOS supports it you can also set to ECO mode which lowers TDP power from 170W to 120W with minimal loss or possibly even gain of performance or set manually highest temps to 85c.
80-85c is lowest temp if you want to have best performance.
PS.
AIOs work best if radiator is mounted at front as intake specially if you have a hot GPU.

I followed the instructions from the second video and tested it. My temperature reached a maximum of 81°C and didn't go over that. I also watched a couple of other videos with more suggestions, and I plan to try those too. It's helpful to have someone point out where to look. Thank you.
