I purchased an Intel i5 processor not long ago, and I'm having overheating problems.
I booted up my PC once and I got a message saying "CPU over temperature error"
I had never seen this before
I went into my BIOS and it said that my cpu was at about 90C
I decided to leave my computer alone for an hour, and I took the side of my case out and put it next to an AC vent. I then rebooted the PC up an hour later and went immediately into BIOS. It started out great, at about 50C, and then over a span of about 10 seconds, it progressively skyrocketed up to 90C.
I don't know if it's a problem with the temp probe on my motherboard or what.
Should I get a new heat sink or a new something?
EDIT: I am using the heat sink that came with the Intel processor, and have 4 other fans running throughout my tower, a mix of intake and outtake.

I could have, but this problem has only popped up in the last few days compared to the 6 months i've had this pc for.

If it just started then it might be your cpu fans are not working. Do you have fan profiles set for those fans or are they hooked up to the power supply directly? If your motherboard came with a program that includes a cpu fan controller, make sure the fan speeds are set correctly. For example, asus boards have AI suite.
