Hi, I was hoping someone could help me with this. Every time I boot up my PC, it stays on for a second and then automatically shuts down. So I opened it up to have a look at the motherboard, when I booted it up the CPU LED was red and I could smell something burning.
Is the CPU done for or could it be a problem with something else like the motherboard or cooler.
Here's what I've got:
CPU: i5 3570k
Mobo: Asus P8-Z77V
CPU cooler: Corsair H80
GPU: GTX1080TI
PSU: EVGA G2 650w

Solution
Please take a close up picture of the connector going into the CPU power connector on the motherboard. Also take close up pictures of the power connectors you have on your 1080 ti.

Even though you can force those connectors into the wrong slots, they are not electrically compatible and will damage your hardware if you plug them in wrong.
