Question CPU running 66-76 on idle with fan at 2500+rpm

Hi lately i was been becoming more and more frustrated at how noisy my computer fans would get with just 1 old game open with very low settings applied (old school runescape)

I ordered some mx 4 paste and wiped off the old and applied about what amount i thought had been on there spread evenly because its lasted 8 years or so.

Now I have idle CPU temperatures according to ai suite 3 and speedfan of 66-76 degrees with the fan running annoyingly loud.

I couldn't tell you what temperatures were before i changed the paste but based on the fans while gaming it was probably about this but with load, now its like this without.

I have googled a few troubleshooting ideas and even took the cooler off to re apply the paste in case the contact was an issue but this all seems fine, I have also had my dad blow out the radiator and all case fans with an air compressor.

The only other change I have made recently was to upgrade my SSD from a Samsung 840 Evo 250gb to an 870 500gb but this went relatively smoothly.

I will add screenshot of the temperatures and my computer specs and can provide anything else if needed.

I really appreciate any advice or help anyone can give as this is driving me crazy not being able to hear myself think over the fans and I'm worried about how much id have to spend to even get a comparable machine as this was a hand me down 8 years ago!

Kind Regards
Sarah

Thank you, the cooler is the original so just over 8 years old without a way to test the rpm of the pump I don't think.

I was under the impression with 1 tube getting red hot and 1 staying icy cold it was actually still performing but apparantly not! The radiator also remains icy cold while the CPU gets up to 90c.

I have ordered a h100i pro so fingers crossed it will be the remedy.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Fitted the corsair h100i pro and after realizing the existing bolts were too high and the new plate wasn't even close to touching the CPU resulting in a few overheating shutdowns i am now all up and running and with all I could ever want open (my game and a few web pages) I cant get it to go above 35c :)
