I believe the issue could be that when I installed the stock cooler, I had to reseat the cooler and I kept using the thermal paste that came in the cooler already.

Am I correct in assuming this is the issue?

Solution
Mate i can tell you right away the problem is in the thermal paste.
You know why i know it? 1 month ago i removed my Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and cleaned the cooler and CPU completely.
I still remember how the paste looked when i removed the cooler. You cannot reuse it.

Buy the new paste and apply it properly, issues will be gone.
Full system specs including cpu and what kind of temps you are seeing would help those of us that are not psychic 😉

Yeah okay haha.

So I have a ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler, rtx 3060ti, and 16gb of ram. The motherboard is the msi b550m mag mortar WiFi.
My CPU idle temps are 57-65c and gaming makes the cpu go up to 94c. After that I restarted my pc and the bios gave me a CPU overheating warning. So I'm assuming it would hit the max temp if I let it.

would my cpu being hot also make my gpu run more hot?
