CPU - i7-4790k
Hoping someone can help me. Out of nowhere my CPU started running at very high temperatures, between 90 and 100 degrees. I did a general clean of the inside of it and it went down to around 75-80 but went back up to 90-100 after an hour or two.
I have a H100i water cooler which I cleaned today for the first time. I took off the fans to clean them, and cleaned the radiator which admittidely was very dirty. When I rebooted my PC the temps were down to the 60's so I thought all was well until I tried to play CSGO, where I was getting a very variable rate of 20 to 80 FPS. I tried to play CSGO prior to the clean when at 90-100 degrees and my FPS was more stable, around 150-200.
I checked task manager whilst playing CSGO after the clean and I noticed the CPU speed was all over the place barely reaching 1GHz, utilization was very low as well.
I have no idea what to do to fix it so any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks.

Many pumps become virtually useless after a few years due to contaminants in the pump's internal cooling fins and/or microleaks leading to loss of coolant, both leading to very marginal cooling; despite hearing/feeling a pump buzzing, these factors alone cannot rule out a simple pump failure, especially if it is beyond 2 years in age.

The cooler is nearing 7 years in age so based on that it seems like it lasted me quite well. Sounds like I'll need to get a new cooler, hopefully that'll result in my CPU speeds going back to normal utilization.
