CPU Seems Stuck to the MoBo

Ok, so I just got a new CPU (Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600) and decided to install it (duh). I took off the heatsink and noticed that there was no case thingy that the processor would have been held by. I tried just lightly pulling on it but that didn't work. Is it like that so you don't replace it? I hope I didn't just buy a processor for nothing!

The computer is a Lenovo ThinkCentre m58e with a pentium dual core e5400

For starters that isn't the CPU.

your processor will be under the plastic and metal shroud and would come out of the socket by a lever on the socket
