Hi folks,

I run Windows Vista 64 with AVAST free addition on a ASUS G71 Core 2 Duo 2.53 with 512mb Geforce 9800GS and 4gig RAM. I have been playing COD and other games for 2 years on this machine. Recently while playing some games a few minutes, I would suddenly lose 90% of my normal frame rates for an unknown reason. I have noted that the CPU usage normally through the games is about 53% but when I lose the frame rates it max out at 100% solid. Does anyone know why or how I could find out what program the max the CPU?

This is a laptop correct?

Is your CPU overheating? Try a temp monitoring program like HWMonitor.

It was overheating big time, GPU up to 110 degrees C. I opend the back and cleaned out the cooloing fins with an old tooth brush and now the laptop runs silent again and max temp 80 degrees C on the CPU. Thanks for the help...
