Cpu temp detection

I am trying to find out what my cpu temp is running at as i have recently installed a new cpu cooler. however none of the apps i have downloaded are working. As far as i can find out my BIOS and my windows are not comunicating effectivly and that is what is preventing apps such as core temp to access the required info to tell me what the cpu temp is. I recently reinstalled my windows and i have been having problems getting my cpu temp from that day. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

are you running an amd mo bo and cpu?
if so, disable core unlock feature in bios and temp readings will return

As stated above, you can try Popeyes solution, but we need to know what kind of CPU you have first.

yes indeed i am running a amd cpu... its the Phenom II X6 1100T.
