Question CPU temp increases every second and when it hits 108 degrees celsius PC shuts down.

I replaced thermal paste,tried re-installing the cooler,but nothing.This started happening a few days ago,but it wasn't a problem untill i installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
PC specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
Nvidia GeForce GT 9600
I don't know what motherboard i have
6 GB DDR2 RAM

am using Intel's stock cooler.

Is the fan locked down securely to the cpu with broken parts?

Maybe i should buy a new fan?I heard that Intel stock ones are really bad and hard to install.

The stock cooler is good enough. If the fan is working then the cooler is either not installed correctly or broken. A correctly installed non broken cooler wouldn’t let the cpu hit 108c.

I know that it's not broken,so i will re-install it and see what will happen now.
