I've noticed recently that my CPU Temp was running extremely high (between 94-100 degrees). I cleaned out my case which was a bit dusty and also cleaned the watercooler radiator which was caked in dust in fairness, but thats all clean now. this made no change. I've cleaned the old thermal paste that was a few years old by now, and reapplied fresh thermal paste, but still no change.
The temp shows even as 99 while sitting in the bios, but the watercooler pipes are not warm in the slightest, and neither is the block attached to the cpu, not even remotely warm to the touch, and can't feel any excessive heat coming from the cpu. Could the cpu temp sensor be faulty and displaying the wrong temp? I've stress tested with prime95 and the temp didn't go any higher, even after dropping the cpu cooler fans to 40% speed manually.
relevant components;
Intel i7 4770K
Corsair H100i CPU Cooler
MSI Z87-G55 motherboard
Any one had a similar issue or got any advice for this?
