Cpu temp

Hey i just put some new thermal compound on my cpu and speedfan shows 80c, and ive never used CPUIDHW but it shows the temps diff.....

heres a screenshot actually

Does this look normal... is speedfan telling me lies or is my cpu really running at 70-90c when playing ANY game

HWMonitor looks more normal. Download real temp and core temp and see which one is correct. I would say HWMonitor is right though, those readings on speedfan look too skewed.

Speedfan usually has issues with accuracy!

Hardware Montior is usually pretty accurate but not always. I would go by that over Speedfan. I would also try Coretemp and see what that says in comparison to the other two.

what can i do about my gpu temp? 80-90c is pretty hot isn't it?

Yeah haha. Always double check temps, I mean, Core temp vs HWMonitor on my system varies 5C sometimes. (and if your temps are that extreme as reported by speedfan, I would definitely double check)

According to that picture you posted the CPU temps look fine. When you cleaned the old thermal paste off did you clean the heatsink and CPU heatspreader surface real good with rubbing alcohol and a non lint cloth?

Yep, i have WoW running in the back also in that screenshot

What did the temps look like with core temp?

Right now its showing 40 on all cores while playing WoW.

I would say if both HW Monitor and Core temp are showing temps in the 40's than everything should be fine. It sounds like Speedfan was giving bad temps and that was the problem not the CPU.
