Hi,

I'm curious if anyone knows of a program that will generate a plot of CPU temp over time that I can save to my drive? Or perhaps store data points in Excel of CPU temp as a function of time so I can plot it myself? Some thing I can run in the background during standard use.

I'm using
I7-7700k
MSI z270 M7
Corsair h100i v2

I've been seeing some crazy idle temp fluctuations with this CPU (fluctuating between 35-55 in seconds) but stable temps under load.

Also, can someone tell me the safe temp operating range of the i7-7700k? I heard this guy is safe into the 90's?!

Solution
1) MSI Afterburner has a log file saved for all the hardware monitoring options you want it to monitor (CPU temp, GPU temp, % use of both, system RAM use, CPU fan speed, GPU fan speed, etc.). If I remember correctly it's stored in a basic table format that cannot be imported into Excel, so you'd have to manually plug the data in.

2) Wild temp fluctuations at idle are perfectly normal (this is actually a common question of concern on Tom's, and I think a sticky should be made for it). What you need to keep an eye on is the load temps, and since those are normal and stable, then your chip is normal.
