Hey Guys,

So i got my computer built finally and i did a quick 15 minute Aida 64 test, will do a more thorough one tomorrow for a few hours.

I am using a
Noctua NH-D15s(Dot method thermal paste)
S340 Elite case
2 140mm Noctua fans in front
2 Rear 120mm Case fans (one on top, one in back)

1- During the Aida test, my temps in HWmonitor were jumping all over the place between 58-75c celsius every second or two. Is that normal?

2- After the 15 minutes my temps read out below, reaching as high as 78c after this short time. Is this also normal for this CPU using Aida? I usually use Prime on my last builds, and i don't believe i got temps this high.

Thanks!! Here is a short video to show what i mean

Solution
CLock speeds/core voltages will fluctuate many times per second with load, even faster than the program can display them...

Temps change just as quickly....once test done, they drop back down to 34c pretty quickly, within 1 second...

All normal behavior..
Thanks. So I did another Aida64 test for an hour and i got these temps again, so nothing over 75c really as the max. And the Temps were mostly jumping between high 50's and high 60's.

Thanks, even the numbers jumping around 5-12 degrees every second or two? All of the cores were doing it while Aida was testing. And it idles at around 30c with the cores jumping a few degrees up.

Every now and then a random core will jump to 40 though.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if it was normal or not. I ended up reseating the CPU cooler, and i noticed there was a ton of paste that spread out all the way to the sides of the chip. I used a pea sized amount of the NT-H1 but apparently that was too much.

I usually use the spread method with a credit card, so i tried that with the CP7 i have had lying around, and i am getting about the same temps. Actually a degree or two worse now :/ Should have just left it alone.

Good to know it is operating normal at least though. I am running another 60 minute stress test now so hopefully the temps stay the same and don't go higher than before, i would hate to have to take it apart and do the paste again.

After messing with the fans a bit, i got the temps down to 74-75c max with one core still 78c after 3 hours in aida64. Probably would have been even lower if i didn't mess with the thermal paste...

Considering it is a hot running 8700k i think i am happy. Might send it to siliconlottery to be delidded, but since i won't be OCing that would probably be a waste for me.

Thanks for the help
