[SOLVED] CPU Temps too high (water cooling)

I've been building a new PC over the last few days.
I bought it semi-prebuild with the Corsair Hydro H150i installed. After installing the motherboard and CPU I applied thermal paste and booted the PC as normal.
But, the LEDs on the pump itself had not lit up. I believe the pump still works though as the temps still raise and fall.
MSI afterburner reads the CPU temp at 75-100 with only a few windows open.

The pump has power.
But the micro USB - motherboard connection is confusing me.
The connector from the USB that plugs into the pump leads to a 5 wire 'USB only' plug for the motherboard.
When plugging it into the USB prongs it does not work.
I have also tried plugging it into the 4 pronged 'CPU fan' connection on the motherboard as most tutorials indicate. (with one wire not connected on the row). Still does not light up

Thanks for any replies to these issues.
