While going over some Intel data for an older system I was upgrading, I came across this item in Intel's "Thermal/Mechanical Specifications and Design Guidelines" PDF for the Lynnfield processor I was using:
2.1.5 Package Insertion Specifications
The processor can be inserted into and removed from an LGA1156 socket 15 times. The
socket should meet the LGA1156 socket requirements detailed in Chapter 5.
Is anyone besides me surprised to realize that a CPU can only be inserted/removed into its socket 15 times before they are... "worn out"?
