[SOLVED] CPU underclocked

I have a new fx 8320 that is underclocked due to being in a 95w mother board when the cpu is 125w, will this underperform a fx 4300 which i previously had?

fx4300 is 511 for single 1394 for multicore
you got 407 for single, 2130 for multicores

fx8320 is 522 single and 2489 multi

so your single core is underperforming fx4300, but all cores working together (underclocked) are stronger than fx4300.

your cpu is octa, previously you had quad.
that's okay, CPUs with more cores have slower individual cores. 8320 base frequency is 3.5 while 4300 is 3.8. their max frequency is both at 4GHz, so 8320 has more cores but slower ones.

single core tasks are for games, multi-cores are for rendering streaming.

FX-8320 must score 1082 on Cinebench R20 Multi-core test:

So download Cinebench R20 (not newer versions) and benchmark your cpu. You press test, it renders a scene and gives you a score.

and here's FX4300:

oh, wait a minute. No R20 results for this one.
ok, download cinebench R11.5, if your underclocked 8320 scores lower than 4.47 in multicore, then your answer is yes.

hmm, you can also use Geekbench 5. it seems newer than CineR11.5

from their homepage, it seems right now 5 is the latest version and you have cpu-monkey telling you how fx8320 and fx4300 compete in Geekbench tournament.

Thanks, just did a test and it scored 4.64 at 2.92ghz

it must score 6.35. So it's still better than 3.47 that fx4300 gains.
