CPU Upgrade Advice

Looking to upgrade my processor, although this will mean replacing the motherboard and RAM. Currently I have the following:

Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 1060
PSU: 850W Corsair CMPSU-850HXUK
Case: Silverstone Raven RV02B
Processor: i7 920 D0 SLBEJ Bloomfield
RAM: 6GB Corsair Dominator (tri-channel)
Motherboard: GA-X58A-UD3R

I'm currently playing Battlefield 1, Doom, Watch Dogs and Farcry Primal. Considering I've only changed the graphics card in the last 7 years (Changed a couple of months ago due to performance in Doom).

I want to extend the life of the rig, prevent any bottlenecks and, obviously, boost performance where possible.

My budget is about £300 and I'd like to get 16GB RAM with that, as well as the CPU and motherboard, is that asking too much for too little money?

Any suggestions welcome :)

EDIT:
Someone I know is selling HP EliteDesk 800 G1 for £200. Although most of this is useless to me, the processor is a i7 4770 3.4Ghz and is has 16GB RAM, I'd just need a socket 1150 motherboard. Would this be worth a go or is there a better option?

Yes, that old hp would be a very good deal if you can just find a 1150 mobo.

Thank you for your response, I've added a curve ball to the end, would that give me any gains or should I look to increase my budget?

I'll see if I can get that then. If the RAM is 2x8GB I'll go for this:
https://www.ebuyer.com/728679-asus-h81m-p-plus-socket-1150-vga-dvi-hdmi-8-channel-audio-matx-h81m-p-plus
and if it's 4x4GB, there's this:
https://www.ebuyer.com/512557-asus-b85m-g-socket-1150-vga-dvi-hdmi-6-2-channel-hd-audio-matx-b85m-g

If I can't get hold of it then I'll have to save up an extra £100 and take a look at the other builds you posted, I'm not sure how AMD and Intel compare these days!

Thank you for all your help!
