Question CPU upgrade for 4thgen Intel laptops

I have a Dell latitude e6440 which has a socketed CPU...It comes with a dual core i5 which has a TDP of 37W ....

Do you recommend upgrading to a 4 cores CPU with a TDP of 37W ? or a 4 cores CPU with a TDP of 47W ?


wouldn't there be throttling, louder fan noise and overheating if I go with 47W ones ?

I suggest you go with a 37W TDP CPU.
You might end up with heat issues going with a 47W CPU and could make the system unstable.
I have seen units for sale outfitted with a quad core 47W CPU (i7-4700MQ) but I don't know how will it perform.
