Dear all:

My apology as I don't know whether my question should be posted here or in the "CPU" section.

I own a Asus M51BC (Socket 942) (bought in 2014) desktop PC and am thinking of upgrading its CPU (the current one is AMD FX-8300). As I'm a total novice to computer hardware, I wonder if any kind experts could help recommend as which more recently released and faster AMD CPUs could fit into its motherboard. Many thanks in advance. :)

Followings are its hardware specs, if they could be of any help.

I would assume that Amazon is the online retailer of choice then.
I would also assume that the shipping/import fees are not cheap either.
So you can easily enough start off with mid tier upgrade which will absolutely blow the crap out of your current CPU in performance.

This thread should definitely be posted under CPU since your question is in regards to CPU.

Don't worry, I will have a mod move it.

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade to anything new, you can only upgrade to a couple of CPU's from that generation and the upgrade is not worth the money.
If you want a newer and faster CPU, you will have to upgrade the entire platform, which will include a new CPU, Mobo, and RAM.

If interested, I can try to recommend you upgrade components if you tell me your budget and country.

Dear xSimply1337x:

I really appreciated your kind reply on my question. :)

The budget I had in mind, with the condition that I could still use my existing RAMs/Graphic card, to spend for the new Mobo/CPU would be somewhere around US$900. BTW, I'm living in Taiwan right now. Many thanks again for your kind assistance.

Best regards,
Bing
