Hi all

I am looking at some upgrades to my computer setup

Is my i7 4770k looking long in the tooth or still competitive?
What do i replace with?

looking at a 1440p set up and have a 144hertz 1440p LG ips monitor on route.
undecided on gpu as waiting bench tests and reviews on whether i go rtx 3070 or amd rx6800

Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50GHz 40 °C
Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (10-10-10-30)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z87-PRO (SOCKET 1150) 29 °C

Hello and welcome to the forum.

At 1440p and high/ultra details settings your current i7 4770K will do a decent job in games, just don't expect the same level of performance as newer CPU like the 10600K/10700K or the soon to be released Ryzen 5000 series (well even some Ryzen 3000 series will do better than your current CPU in some games).

An important consideration when upgrading GPU is always the PSU, whats your PSU brand and model?

Thanks for the prompt response.

power supply is Corsair 750watt bronze certificate one.

looking at a 3 phase approach. Phase one monitor mouse and keyboard. Done

phase 2 motherboard, ram, cpu and cooling. Currently got a Corsair water unit but will replace with new and cpu recommended as don’t trust it to last another 7 years!

phase 3 graphics card. Put a 1060 in a couple of years back as it was running a 780 originally

obviously planning it at the moment so can do in two more hits Starting next year.

That’s like half the cost of a new ryzon 5600x
That's a really good price!

I have seen many Haswell processors going for $400 used, which is insane.
I bought one a year ago for 177 dollars, so I think you should be able to sell it for 150.

But if you want someone to buy it sooner, then you may want to price it at somewhere around $129.99.
