Hi, I wanna upgrade my little bros computer, but I dont know which processors are compatible. The model of the motherboard is MS 7599. And the currently installed cpu is an amd anthlon ii x3 440, I know it's bad. He just wants to do some very simple gaming, such as minecraft, cs go, tf2, and red orchestra. Not really looking to go over $100 so im really looking for an apu. P.s the currently installed graphics card is a nvidia geforce 8400gs

Solution
A tri-core Athlon II @ 3 GHz isn't that bad; the real problem is your graphics card. Your 8400GS will be the real cause of poor framerates in all but the most CPU-heavy games. One of these would fix that nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127784

If you REALLY want to upgrade the CPU, the Athlon II X3 460, Phenom II X4 B99, or Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition are all good options, especially the last one if you want to try your hand at overclocking. You might even be able to unlock two extra cores on a 960T BE if you're lucky 😀

You can get a used x4 960T on eBay for @$50 - $60. That'll get you 1 extra core and turbo to 3.4GHz. Paired with a 750ti, as mentioned, it'll go a long way to improving gaming experience. Although from what I find at MSI, the 770-C45 mobo can support upto a Phenom II x6 1090t which runs about $130-$150
