Question CPU Upgrade i5 2320-i7 3770

Okay. So I am currently upgrading my brothers computer. He plays basically Diablo 3 and such games, but just got Wolcen. It has been crashing and bottlenecking hard, and minimum specs shows that it needs a i5-4570T and a gtx 560TI. He currently has a i5 2320 and a EVGA GTX 750 SC w/ACX 2GB card.

Which is a lga1155 socket with a b75 chipset. I have checked benchmarking websites and it says a i7-3770 beats a i5-4570T hands down. So, should there be any issues I should worry about in upgrading his i5-2320 to a i7-3770? The CPU cooler supports up to 100Watt TDP by the way.

That motherboard does support the 3770, however, you may need a bios update. I would update your bios and you should be ready for this CPU upgrade.

Make sure you update the motherboard BIOS to the latest available version BEFORE installing the 3rd generation CPU.

Wow! First time ever posting on this forum, and already I got great information. Been building and doing sketchy builds for years. Hell, I just cut my sata cord to hard wire a fan into my case just so my GPU didn't hit 90 degrees since I can't afford a new one. Rocking a 41 dollar gtx 650. Y'all are amazing! So, update the bios on the motherboard and you guys think it should be able to handle Wolcen even though the minimum is a i5 4570T, which is a generation newer?

Yes the 3770 is much more powerfull. The 3770 is a 4 core 8 thread cpu and the i5 needed is a 2 core 4 threads chip. Your gpu and cpu are more than enough to play the game judging by the minimum specs.

I had figured it would work but PC equipment can be strange. Hell, I may have to save up money and order myself one. Eh... It may not work however. Rocking an OEM Dell Inspiron 620 MOBO with the i5-2320 it came with. OEM boards are strange anyways. Chipset may not match up. But hey. Can always try. If it doesn't work, there are cheap LGA1155 mobos out there. Or just go with an AMD FX-8370 and overclock the piss out of it. Anyways! Thank you all so much! This will keep him from bitching anymore haha.
