Cpu upgrade i5 2400 or A8 9600 or i5 3470

As title which one to buy between those cpu
My current specs
Athlon x2 260
4gb Ram
Gigabyte 5770 1gb (old for today's games have to buy new gpu too)

Haven't updated my pc since I bought it 5 years ago

Which cpu is best for gaming and rpcs3 emulation

I can get i5 2400 for rs.4500 or i5 3470 for rs. 5400
Or amd A8 9600 with good igpu for rs.4300
Won't be able to use my ram with this
It's ddr4 only

The 3470 should serve you better among those.
Ans yes, you will need DDR3 RAM.

Edit: For the i5, you cannot use your current board. AMD boards dont support Intel.

Your question seems to ask about upgrading and staying on your current motherboard. To that, none of the cpu's listed are compatible. You motherboard is AM3, while the i5 2400 and 3470 are lga 1155 and the A8 is AM4.

If you're asking what to replace your motherboard and cpu with, I'd agree with Hellfire that the 3470 is the better option.

Actually if you are changing the entire platform, then its better to go for current gen. like Ryzen or Coffelake.

Ya I know I will get a new motherboard too my budget is low around 8k
So rs.5300 for i5 3470 cpu and z61 motherboard should be rs.3000
Also is my psu is good for i5 3470?
My psu is corsair vs450

That sum looks fine if you have ddr3 RAM, else that should factor in the cost as well.
VS450 is not too good, but it should do for now. Change it at the earliest you can.
