I have an HP Pavillion a6432f. I upgraded CPU to Athlon 64 x2 3.1GHz but have run into a Phenom II x4 955 95w and after some research many resources say it will run on this M2N68-LA Narra3-GL8E AM2+. All of these people were running Bios 5.14 or above. I have 5.11 and gave it a shot but it would not POST. I found the hp 5.14 bios installer. Original OS was Vista, I have since upgraded to Win 7 and now 10. Can I run this installer in Win 10?

Solution
Too risky trying to run Win7 BIOS updater on Windows 10, you could end up with a bricked BIOS if updater starts to run but falls over before completion. My guess though is it won't run at all, no risk in that case but also no help to you..

As previous poster says, updating BIOS outside of Windows where possible is generally much safer, probably not an option on a pre-built PC though.

The 5.14 installers came from HP but were archived on a website as source for people that are fiddling with custom BIOS. HP told me they don't keep older BIOS, I would think HP would have the bandwidth and storage for an archive but oh well. I have a 5.17 .rom but not sure of the procedure to make a bootable cd, no floppy drive. I know the rom needs some type of command structure i.e. installer but not sure how to get it going this way. I am thinking of downgrading to vista 32 to run installer and then going back to 10. I've seen many instances of people with the same board M2N68-LA Narra3-GL8E running 5.14 to 5.17 and even some 5.6x but would be satisfied with the 5.14 as my CPU should POST with it.
