i assembled a mini itx pc the last year, a atlhon 5350, 8 gbs of ram and a msi am1i mainboard

the thing runs fast and is very stable, i even did some overclocking on it, just 50 mhz thanks to the limited mainboard

i added a cheap gpu to it, a r7 250, ddr3 model because i couldn't find or afford a ddr5 model

after playing with it alot this month i discovered some interesting details

the machine works great with some games, with others struggle but deliver, but on some, well, a 2.1 ghz core from a laptop can't run well gta v

at 720p works well with vsync and limited to 30 fps on most situations(30hz and a tv that doesn't cooperate much forces me to use those settings), but sometimes the thing struggles to reach 15fps

by running afterburner i discovered that overclocking the gpu will not help me to reach stable 30fps all the time, because the cpu is all the time at 100%, while the gpu, being a weak gpu, only reaches 50% of usage

the only upgrade path for a am1 socket is a 5370 iirc

so it is time for a new mainboard and cpu

i'm between a msi 110

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/H110I-PRO.html#hero-overview

with a pentium 4400 cpu(budget goes only to that one) or a msi a68 itx

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/A68HI-AC.html#hero-specification

with a x4 860k(same budget limitation)

the amd solution is cheaper(cpu and mainboard) and lets me reuse the ram, so the upgrade is as painless as possible

the amd is a bit faster, but surely won't get upgrades, ever, and tht is fine for me

the intel will get upgrades on that lga 1151 but since i'm choosing to keep ddr3, that limits things, also i don't like intel much

any opinions over the idea are appreciated

Yes, indeed it could be the fact that you live in another country. Prices for myself are consistent with what AMD has stated ($499 - 1800X, $399 - 1700X, etc.)

Again, if you could just save up instead of buying now, that would be what I would recommend. Upgrading right now will just caused you to need to upgrade soon again anyways. It turns into a vicious cycle.
It would be best if you could save up and then buy a good, new system and then not need to upgrade for a while.
well, finally had the time to put the thing together

so it ended up being the plan b, x4 860k, asus 68 plus mainboard, 8 gbs of ddr3 coarsair vengeance, r7 250, cx500 psu and a ugly case i have here

all went mostly well, problems with fans, tried to put them all in, bad idea, the thing has the psu on the top, it was making the entire case hot

this is a old case with the poorest airflow possible, will get another case later since the mini itx will keep the old athlon am1 combo

i have a problem with this cpu, or the mainboard, not sure

the temperatures are being reported really bad, 70°c on idle

all apps tried say the same, even bios and amd overdrive

when i touch cpu i think it is around 30 to 40°c
