is adobe flashplayer up to date?

try using "mediaplayer classic" and vlc player, to watch movies

which player are you using currently?

Changed the energy profile - can't say I see any difference.
Disabled HW acc in Flash. It actually made it slower, so I enabled it again.

I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed as well. Have run that and it actually feels slower than on Win7. Also, the PC crashes once in a while. Not often, but with Win7 it never happens.

Any more ideas?

Thinking of maybe formatting and running only one OS (probably Win7) to see if that does anything. Thoughts on that?

Thanks again for all your help so far :)

I saw that you installed Ubuntu, but wanted to be sure, it´s not an installation/compatibility problem. That´s why I was suggesting the smaller live Linux distributions.

Up to date Ubuntu is version 14.10, eventually that´s faster now too.
