I upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 9 5950X on a MPG X570 board (MS-7C37).

I updated the BIOS but computer keeps cycling back to tthe BIOS and won’t go to Windows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you reinstall Windows? That's mandatory when changing processors in that manner.
Mandatory? Come on! Over 8 years I have used the same Windows install on a FX-8350, a Ryzen 1700, a Ryzen 2700x, a Ryzen 3700x, a Ryzen 5900x and a Ryzen 9800X3D (on 5 different motherboards and 3 different drives) and never had any issues. When I finally did a fresh install a few months ago (not that I had any problems but people were saying it would be so much better), I haven't noticed any improvement, neither in benchmarks or actual games. It's exactly the same. So no, it's not "mandatory" unless you have problems.

I’m using windows 10. I can’t get windows reinstalled.

It said I didn’t have enough space on boot drive. So used my medication usb to go in and remove some games until there is now 164g free.

Re ran my windows usb stick and t’s says it cannot repair or re install.

“The upgrade option is t available if you start your computer using windows install media.

If a copy of windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run windows setup.”

I have found the error: Operator

I had switched out my gaming nvme as well as the cpu upgrade. Come to find out that I took out my windows drive, not the gaming drive.

Replaced the gaming drive with the windows drive and...it didn't work.

So I went back into the BIOS and switched from UEFI to CSM and that solved it.

Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate you

When (re)installing windows, all partitions on that disk should be deleted so windows can make own depending on style BIOS is in, UEFI or CSM/legacy. In case of UEFI window makes an extra, EFI partition and formats disk to GPT. It is small, typically 100MB and is first partition on system disk. If you try to install windows on it, it will refuse because it's too small.

W10 can be installed in either mode, W11 only in UEFI mode. Once installed in either mode BIOS should be set to that mode.

It's also good idea to have only one disk installed, the one windows is going to be on as only disk present. Removes dilemma which disk to use.
