CPU: Ryzen 7600X

Last night I noticed that my Chrome was starting to jitter a bit, especially with youtube. I then started monitoring my hardware and i saw the CPU temp reaching as high as 78-80. I thought my AIO had stopped, but all fans was working and so did the pump. I launched a high demanding game expecting to see my temps spiking and a possible reboot of the system, but the temps were normal.

I struggle with the idea the my 7600X is having a difficult time running Chrome and has reached such temps with more or less nothing going on. Any ideas?

78 to 80c is completely normal temperature, but just by playing videos that's probably too much.
Did you peel off the sticker that the AIO had on the bottom?

Yes i did 😛 its not stuck at 80. It spiked to 80. I rests around 45ish. I just expected it to hold 45-55 in desktop with nothing running besides Chrome, but going all the way to 75-80 just switching between Chrome banners. It might be nothing. Still getting used to the AM5 cpus.

Intel of same generation behaves same way, Actually all of new gen CPUs are configured for fast reaction and core swap and all are allowed higher temps than just 1 or 2 gens earlier.

A browser can present a pretty significant load on a CPU, more so if one doesn't run adblockers. (Always for me, with whitelisted sites that don't have obnoxious or video ads.) It's not uncommon to see large utilization spikes when loading or scrolling, especially with video playing.

Intel and Ryzen work differently from base expectations. Intel are wide open, set performance and it's incumbent on the owner to tame temps and keep them regulated, which is why 70°C was the standard considered safe limit for donkey's years. Amd works from the other direction (yeah, go figure). For Ryzens, it's 80° and performance isn't a given, set point, but something to be worked towards. So a Ryzen will apply as much as it can until 80° and then start lowering the boost amounts according to how much cooling potential is available. Self regulation.

Your temps are perfectly normal for Ryzen operations, having an aio isn't going to magically lower temps, they work comparatively the same as a comparative rated air cooler, watt for watt. The difference is in how. Air cookers are fast response, they control temps, aios are slow response, they manage temps. Subtle difference. I'd not worry about temps, they are fine. Worry about the cause of the Chrome instability, it's more likely driver incompatibility or storage access related.
