Question Problem disconnecting the chassis fan ?

Hello everyone,

I have an old desktop PC with an Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard. From time to time the chassis fan starts rambling so I thought it to be time to replace it. However, I cannot seem to be able to disconnect it. The wires seem to go behind a module with the bluetooth symbol on it. Any ideas how to get this disconnected?

Edit
According to the motherboard manual, there are 2 x PWR_FAN connectors, 2 x CHA_FAN connectors and 2 x CPU fans.

I checked all of them and only one of the CPU_FAN is currently in use. All the other connectors are free, so I am a bit puzzled to what the chassis fan is connected.

Solution
Yes, that fan connects to an IDE power connector (the connector with the red/black/black/yellow wires), and I think should have a three-speed controller switch coming from it as well?

The way that's been routed you'd normally have to remove the motherboard, looking at it, but if you're replacing it I'd just disconnect it and then cut the cable. Look to see if there's a speed switch attached too, which you may have to also cut. Just make sure you don't lose the connector or switch behind the motherboard after cutting.

For your replacement just get a fan with a proper connector to the motherboard CHA_FAN.

Edit: This photo shows the speed controller, which connects to a flat black cable exiting the fan housing next to the coloured...

Solution
Yes, correct, it has a speed switch. I disconnected it and the fan no longer turns on, so seems to be it indeed. As I'm not in the mood to remove to motherboard, cutting it is !

After cutting I could slowly pull out the cable completely so nothing is left behind. The new fan is connected to the motherboard, and desktop is up and running. Thx for the help.
