CPU Usage Fluctuating

The CPU on my XPS 13 9560 i5 7600 has been fluctuation. It is relatively healthy, cruising around 40 degrees Celsius on idle. But the CPU usage constantly jumps from 15% to 30% or 50% or more. Is this something I should be concerned about? Thank You.

Your CPU is actually an i5-7600u (ultra low power). That is a dual core CPU (unlike i5 desktop CPUs which are quad core). Having the CPU usage go up to 50% would not be unexpected.

Fluctuations are normal throughout the day as assorted tasks are started, stopped, etc...; the most activity will normally occur when first booting/starting up, as Windows and assorted applications check for/pull in updates. Once all updates are done, I can get the wife's lowly dual core Dell with only 4 GB of RAM to stabilize at about 2-3% CPU usage...
