Cpu usage fluctuating

One day I was randomly getting big lag spikes in games I was playing like gta or fortnite and I looked up what was wrong and people were saying I had a virus. Which was not true I checked for one and I could not find anything I have never seen before. I was looking everywhere for an answer and I checked to see if my drivers needed updating or my cpu fan stopped working. Everything was fine so I am coming here for a solution if anyone knows what is going on I will appreciate it.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40hz

How's your cpu and gpu temps and usage looking under load? Use something like msi afterburner to monitor everything while in game.

Turns out it is not my cpu but my gpu seems to be used at 100% when I play games if you could tell me an answer for this it would be much appreciated

You want your gpu to be at 100% so thats great. How are your temps looking like? If they get too high then your system will throttle itself.

Well my GPU temp goes up to 172 which is a cooling problem but my fps problem is that I did not have any of my drivers updated so I updated those. If you could give me a possible cooling solution for a gaming laptop that would be helpful

Well I am not that experienced with laptops but I'd recommend making sure the intakes are clear from dust/dirt, if you are able to set a more aggresive fan curve for your system and maybe even consider a cooling pad.

I cleared it today and CPU and GPU are doing fine but when I get in games my fps goes from 70-100 to 10-30 every 30 seconds or s0.
Update: Fixed that problem but when gaming my gpu usage goes from 100% to 50%
