So I had an expert put RAM in my PC (because I didn't want to screw it up), and after going back home and started to use my PC, the CPU usage went from ~11% to ~50%. Do you think it's related to the RAM that was added?

(Also, when I open any applications along with Chrome, the program crashes as well as Windows Explorer.)

Solution
depends on how much ram you had to start with. if you only had a tiny amount of ram, adding another 1GB would mean it would be relying on the swap file (which is very very slow) and would allow the CPU to become more utilised. If you had a reasonable amount of ram (8GB) then adding 1GB should do nothing at all.
