before we start:
I am using a compatible socket
I have never built an AMD computer before.
Triangles are lined up
We have tried to reinstall the cpu multiple times with the same result.
Pins seem to be fine.
Power cords are installed properly.

For some reason one half of the cpu goes snugly in the socket, but the other half does not. It's not drastic but you can barely see the gold pins not going in all the way on the crooked end. We managed to put on the cpu cooler fine. When we turned on the computer, we didn't get any output on the monitor. I checked the cpu fan and it seems to be moving slowly compared to other cpu fans I've seen. I'm not feeling much heat coming from it, and cpu doesn't sound like it's running.

So is it normal for the cpu to be a little crooked as I described?

I will try to get some pictures tomorrow (Sunday). We plan on returning the motherboard and getting a new one.

Solution
The processor should fit cleanly and easily, it should simply drop into the socket, all the way, flush. If it does not, I would return the board. Be careful that you do not damage the pins on the processor messing around with a bad board or socket!
