CPU-Z Reading Question

Just noticed something for the first time upon running CPU-Z. Bottom right corner of the first page it lists 1 processor and 1 thread. I was under the impression threads were basically the cores of the processor. What exactly does 1 thread mean in CPU-Z??? Is it a correct reading when the CPU is an FX-8350?

FIXED ANNNNNND FIXED!!! Grew some balls, pulled the CPU and I just happened to have a small, jewelers loop meant for looking at jewelery (mine is for looking at a plants' trichomes). Came in handy as it allowed me to not only find the two bent pins but also inspect my entire CPU. Bent them back with a razor blade and all is well.

Windows now reports 8gigs (7.90 usable)!!! [watch your language] brilliant!!! Thanks all. Hope if someone does a search and ends up here after trying everything else, they pull and inspect their CPU.
with power management on and running diags the cpu and system can go into low power mode. when it does only one core will be active and have one thread/program running on it. sometime when your running some of the older test software you have to run another program behind it to turn on the cpu to it max speed or turn off power management.

Make sure you have chipset drivers installed, the latest ones can be found on your motherboard manufacturers website.
Also, if that doesn't work, go into msconfig, go to boot, and click advanced options. Under there there is a box that says number of processors, make sure it is NOT checked.

I've attempted every software "fix" out there. Gotta 50 reply thread over at the Memory Forum.

I've been slowly unscrewing the bracket that holds my cooler to the cpu. Performance gets better and better every time I do it. Can't do it anymore screws are too far out. CLEARLY the problem lies with the CPU, probably a bent pin/pins.

If you think there are bent pins, just take it out and have look. You can very often straighten them up again.

Just to make sure they didn't miss anything on the other thread, did you make sure that no cores / modules are disabled in bios?
